Ocean CC sweeps D3 GSAC Basketball Player of the Week honors

VINELAND - The GSAC Basketball Committee is proud to announce the D3 Basketball Players of the Week.

Mens - Jamari Smith - Ocean

Ocean CC sophomore guard Jamari Smith (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat H.S.) has led the Vikings to 2 straight wins since returning from winter break, scoring 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists in Ocean's January 8 107-91 win versus Bergen CC on January 8, followed by a 26-point, 12-rebound, 6-assist night in the Vikings' 95-86 defeat of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology on January 10. The dynamic two-way guard is currently ranked 14th nationally with 21 points-per-game.  

Womens - Brooke Schmidt - Ocean

Ocean CC sophomore guard Brooke Schmidt (Lacey, NJ/Lacey Township H.S.) powered the Vikings Women's Basketball team to their 1st win of the season on January 8, when she contributed 24 points and 11 rebounds as Ocean defeated Bergen CC, 61-54. Schmidt, currently averages 20.8 PPG (7th nationally) and 9.4 RPG, and has ranked among the Region's elite all season.
