Ruiz, Purnell named GSAC D3 Basketball Players of the Week

VINELAND - The GSAC Basketball Committee is proud to announce the GSAC D3 Basketball Players of the Week.

Womens - Janesy Ruiz - Passaic

Ruiz led a fantastic week for the Passaic Panthers as she carried them to victories over Northampton CC and Brookdale CC.  The sophomore guard averaged 24 points per game with 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.  Ruiz and the Panthers sit atop of Region XIX with a 13-3 record heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Mens - Jameel Purnell - RCSJ-Cumberland

Purnell had an unbelieveable week for the Dukes that led them to two victories over Harrisburg Area and Ocean CC.  The freshman guard nearly had a quadruple double in the win over HACC as he scored 20 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, blocked 11 shots, contributed 8 assists, and 3 steals.  In the close victory over Ocean CC, Purnell tallied 20 points with 16 rebounds along with 5 blocks, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
